HILLSIDE, Ill. - Hinsdale Central scored a 69-56 win over New Trier to earn a spot in the sixth-place game of the Proviso West Holiday Tournament. Hinsdale Central (9-3) led 12-10 after one quarter, but the Red Devils surged in front in the second quarter, outscoring the Trevians 20-7 while building a 32-17 lead at the half.  After trailing by 20 points early in the third, New Trier (6-6) used a 20-7 run over a five minute span to pull to within seven points (44-37) after three quarters. The Trevians came as close as six points early in the fourth, but Naperville Central used a 15-6 run to open up a 15-point lead and pull away for the victory. Hinsdale Central shot a whopping 64.3 percent (27-of-42) from the floor and dominated the game inside. The Red Devils outscored New Trier 44-12 in the pain and controlled the glass, outrebounding New Trier 31-13. New Trier  (6-6) had no answer for Hinsdale Central's Matt Rafferty. Rafferty pumped in a game-high 31 points while shooting an impressive 14-of-15 from the floor. He added eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals. Chase Hamilton added 15 points and nine assits for the Red Devils. Jordan Bradshaw added two points and eight assists.  New Trier shot 44.4 percent (20-of-45) from the field and scored over half their points from beyond the arc, shooting 45.5 percent (10-of-22) from three-point range. Ricky Samuelson totaled 18 points while Matt McCaffrey came off the bench to score 11 for New Trier.

Hinsdale Central will face the winner of the Benet/Rockford Auburn game tomorrow (December 31) at 10:00 am.
